First Bras Designed for Augmented Breasts Hit U.K. Market
June 21, 2007 -
A new line of bras designed specifically to support cosmetically altered breasts that are higher and rounder and stick out more than natural breasts was introduced today in Great Britain. The Le Mystère "No9" line of brassieres was designed by an American plastic surgeon, Dr. David Brothers, who says that he was inspired to design the bras after his patients complained of not being able to find bras to fit their bustier shape after having breast augmentation procedures.
Dr. Brothers said that there is a recent trend of patients asking for pointier breasts with a narrow base and more projection, meaning that "traditional bras tend not to fit properly, as the conical shape of the cup doesn't allow the breast to sit comfortably." The new bras feature a mathematically designed spherical shape that matches the shape of the most commonly used implants.
The bras also have underwiring, but rather than the standard oval-shaped underwire that often doesn't hold augmented breasts correctly, the new bras' underwire is a complete semi-circle to match the more narrow base of breast implants. In addition, the Le Mystère No9 bras have a central connector that better matches the distance between cups for breasts that have been augmented.
The new bras are available in the following designs:
- T-shirt bra
- Front closure t-shirt bra
- Lace bra
- Sheer triangle bra
- Strapless bra
All of the designs are available in cup sizes from C to E. As the CEO of Le Mystère, Michael Rabinowitz, pointed out, "Women have gone through the surgery process have a newfound confidence in the way they look, but are often let down by the range of ordinary bras available to them. The No9 range is functional, but very fashionable and definitely ultra chic."
