More Women Opting for Natural Looking Breasts
August 9, 2007 -
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons more women are getting breast augmentations than ever before.
329,000 breast enhancement surgeries were performed in 2006, which is an almost 30 percent increase since 2003.
However, surgeons claim that patients are no longer requesting large, cartoon-like breasts; instead, they are opting for a more natural looking size that will be in proportion to the rest of their body.
Patient Demographics Changing
Women who have gone through a pregnancy and mother's in their 30's and 40's are among the fastest growing group of patients getting breast augmentation today.
These women typically aren't looking to look “done” explains plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Law, instead they want to look professional and conservative while looking their best, he says.
“It is very common in my practice to perform an enhancement that changes the breast profile from an ‘A' cup to a ‘B' cup,” says Dr. Law.
Smaller Breasts Look More Natural
Many surgeons and patients are fans of the smaller breast implants claiming that they not only look more natural than large implants, but they also feel more natural as well.
Whether a surgeon uses saline or the recently improved silicone, small implants tend to blend nicely with breast tissue, making it hard to tell that any surgery has been performed.
